Traffic Calming Update

The volume and speed of traffic, especially during the morning rush hour, continues to concern many residents and experimental methods of traffic calming have been trialled on Hartopp Road and Wentworth Road where the problem is greatest. A ‘carriageway narrowing’ peninsula was installed in Hartopp Road and a 20 mph rated rubber speed bump was installed on Wentworth Road. The feedback received from residents has shown that the peninsula is not a popular method of traffic calming and this will be removed shortly. Feedback however in respect of the rubber speed bump has been very positive and these will be installed, in place of the traditional tarmac speed bumps, on the stretch of Hartopp Road that is shortly to be re-surfaced.
